Beginners Surf Spots Fuerteventura
Beginners Surf Spots Fuerteventura
Are you looking for the perfect surf spots to learn to surf? As a beginner surfer it can be quite daunting choosing the perfect surf spot to learn to surf. There are so many websites out there showing epic waves fit for professionals and while we all want to get to this level we do realize that some of us arn't quite at that level yet and need some soft gentle waves to practice our basic skills!
Beginner surfers need places that:
- Aren’t too dangerous
- Are used by good surf schools that cater to new surfers
- Have suitable waves for learning
- Feature breaks that aren’t crowded with other surfers
Fuerteventura is an awesome place to learn to surf and improve your surfing skills. On the island we have a variety of surf spots perfect for beginners. See below some of the most popular beginners surf spots here on Fuerteventura.
El Cotillo: El Cotillo is one of our favourite beginners surf spots - A very long sandy beach with a lot of peaks offering lefts and rights. The long white water waves are a ideal playground for the first surfing steps. It is not even necessary to paddle or swim out, making it an ideal location to start surfing at.
The spot works on a westerly swell and is offshore in an east wind. Best surfed at medium tide.
Flag Beach: Flag beach is another beach break on the East coast of the island offering gentle waves perfect for beginners. If some people in your group are advancing faster than others this is a great spot for those who are picking up surfing more quickly and can begin to venture out the back to start surfing some soft easy green waves!
This surfing spot works best on a North West wind. Best surfed at low to mid tide
Rocky Point: Rocky point is a great wave that breaks over a shallow reef just outside Corralejo harbour. The Left wave, a little bit further out than the right, is great for both long and short boarders but can be a bit of a paddle out. The right hander is closer to the shore and closer to Corralejo town itself. This is the perfect wave for long boarders but when it is working it can get busy.
Rocky Point is best surfed on a north west to south west and is ideal on a mid to high tide.
